Is the economy too slow to launch an ecommerce site right now?
Diana D asked:
I am going to launch an e commerce site, but I am wondering if I should wait until there is some indication that the economy is recovering. What do you think? Wait it out or get busy so those spiders can crawl my site even if I am not selling right away? There is carrying cost so I want to be smart about it. Thanks.

Obviously it depends on the market you are looking to enter (as with any retail exercise), but trends seem to suggest that eCommerce is getting more and more popular.
With lots of people looking to start their own businesses now, this seems set to continue – and if your concept is strong, now could be the perfect time to take advantage of a newly opened gap in the market, perhaps..
you can launch but don’t expect dazzling results right now. In addition, you need a base, (email mailing) and I am still trying to find where to get one. What type of business? If you are doing resume editing, coaching that is good, everyone is out of a job right now. Luxury items (this is what I have) are hard right now. But this is a way to have a business with little expenses (no rent, employees, etc.) and get your foot in the door. You need to update your website often. And the more pages you have, the more hits you get, i.e. the bigger your website, the higher in the hit you can get. And this gives you experience and clients/customers so when the economy gets better you can do a brick and mortar (real store store) somewhere in a good location with traffic (people/customers) that will benefit your type of business. reta
