What is a good alternative to oscommerce, cubecart and zencart?

oscommerce
daytraderbm asked:

I cannot stand oscommerce, cubecart or zencart. There’s got to be something else out there that’s better, or easier to use and customize into someone’s website. I want something that’s cheap (I’d prefer free), but something that’s simple, easy to use, easy to embed into a website, able to accept credit cards, etc. What do ya’ll recommend? Thanks!

If you are not happy with the zen-cart templating and architecture, you could either wait for Zen Cart 2.0 or have a look at ZenMagick (http://www.zenmagick.org/).
ZenMagick is an add-on for Zen Cart with an alternative (and simpler) templating system. You could even use Smarty as templating engine via plugin.
ZenMagick is build on top of an object oriented database / MVC API and is a lot simpler for pure template/theme development.

I recommend that you hire someone to do it for you because every framework needs to be set and you’ll need to know it a lot to put it on your web site
