Recommendations for best webhosting and ecommerce site for small business?

ecommerce
melsterdba asked:

I’m helping a friend research a new webhost and ecommerce provider. Apparently, he’s not happy with his current one. (i don’t know the name of the site). I recommended Yahoo small business, but I’m open to other suggestions. We’re primarily looking at cost, reliability, ease of use. Any recommendations?

no way; instead, hire a grad student in
IT at your local U and get him-her to
hook you up; excluding answers here,
yahoo is not the best place to associate with biz.

ProStores is an eBay company and I liked them. Here is a link for 30 day free trial

I use hostgator for my hosing. $10 per month for unlimited stores. that is for baby package!

If your friend is selling on eBay and wants to cross promote products, than maybe it is easier to buy a build a niche store software and promote his/her own products and make save on eBay fees, plus make commission of other sellers :) Again, I am not sure if that is the case but if so, here is another link for that :)

I’m not sure what you mean by ecommerce provider. If you’re looking for a complete suite of ecommerce services all in one place, read more at this blog:

It explains how bundled services are cheaper in the long run than getting them all a la carte. They’re especially good for newbies because services by one provider work in harmony with each other.

I would agree with Kemperk on the basis that a college student would be a great option for building a website. However, I would disagree that it would be in your best interest. I find that it is very important to be involved in the building of your site. I also think it is could to learn website building so that you can continually add content and pages to your site. Just having a simple e-commerce site will not do you or anyone justice. You want to set yourself apart from other sites through the quality of your content. It is great that you are researching several options. Yahoo web hosting may be a good option for you. I would encourage you to look at several options. I would also recommend that you change the sequence of your comparison. First compare features such as tools, capacity, assistance, analyzing of your work etc. Then compare costs. You also want to look into the track record of the host. I use an incredible host that you can research as one of your options.

Here’s a good list of shopping cart providers to research…

Just copy and paste the names into Google and find one that meets your needs as far as cost, setup and ease of use.
