Do customers care about the green bar? Yes, people are too paranoid these days. It’s better to have it than not. I haven’t run across an ecommerce client yet that did not have it. It leaves people to believe their credit cards aren’t secure. Yikes.
Verisign warranty:
What company would I select? Typically, we go with the SSL certificate company the hosting company offers. Why? They know how to set it up (may do it for free) and they can answer questions about it. Otherwise, you may get yourself into configuring and installing the SSL Certificate. Unless you have a techy on hand, it’s going to be a rough ride.
